These
horse trails are designed for those who wish to experience the beauty and
wonder of the Winelands with an all inclusive luxury equestrian vacation in
the Western Cape. The focus is on riding through our local mountain fynbos,
vineyards and olive orchards. Guests are taken to wine farms, an olive
producer and also get to taste some of the excellent local cuisine. At the
end of each day is a chance to relax at Diemersfontein Country House, a top
class guesthouse with all the comforts of home, while providing the tranquillity
of the Berg River Valley.

| Two
and Three
Day Trails:
Enjoy the breathtaking scenic beauty of the Berg River Valley
winding through the unspoilt Hawequa Mountains, with pit stops for the
tasting of excellent local wines, olives and olive oil. Lazy evenings can be spent
watching the sunset while your horse frolics in the fields below the
historic guest farm.

Day
One
Guests
should arrive at Diemersfontein Wine and Country Estate by 13h30 at the
latest (transfers can be arranged at additional cost). After settling, in riders
are given wine tasting at the Diemersfontein Cellar at 14h30. After the wine tasting,
guests are taken to the stables and are introduced to their horses, leaving at
15h00 (16h00 in summer) for a 2-3 hour outride into the mountains
to get accustomed to their mounts. Sundowners (for your account) are at
Diemersfontein Country House followed by dinner at the Seasons Restaurant
at Diemersfontein.

Day
Two
Riders leave the Diemersfontein stables at
08h30 and and
ride to Klein Rhebokskloof for wine, olive oil and olive tasting. We
then proceed
to Bovlei Cooperative Winery for tasting. Then visit Redemption Leather
Shop (optional). Enter Bovlei area and taste wine at De Compagnie and/or
Nabygelegen. We
proceed into the Maze
Valley to Doolhof for wine tasting.
Ride past historic Huguenot farms to Oude Wellington Wine Estate for
tasting and lunch at Oude Wellington Restaurant. Scenic ride through
farms and fynbos back to Diemersfontein. Arrive at stables at 17H00 and
later have dinner at the Seasons Restaurant. |

Day
Three
After
breakfast at the guesthouse, we leave the stables at 08h00 for a four hour
scenic trail through fynbos hills, buchu farms
and olive groves. If party consists of 4or more riders we provide olive,
tapenade and olive oil tasting in an olive grove. We return to the
stables at 12h30 for a light lunch served at the Seasons Restaurant.
After lunch we set out for another 2 hour scenic trail at 16H00. We will
arrive back at the stables at 18H00. Dinner at Diemersfontein. |

Day
Four
This
morning you have a chance to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and if you wish,
an opportunity to say farewell to your trusty steed, or for those not in
a rush to get back to a faster paced lifestyle, there is the option of
spending some of the morning exploring some of the other paths in the
area on horseback (Optional - NOT included in price).

hikes is at your own
risk. Fynbos Trails, its proprietor, employees and agents will not be held responsible for
and shall be exempt from all liability in respect of any
loss, damage, theft, injury, accident or loss sustained by any person or their
property.
Riding guests
should be experienced horse riders and should be riding fit. (Riders should be confident at the rising
trot and canter and able to cope with long hours in the saddle.) Novices are
welcome on trails of up to a maximum of 2 hours long.
All
trails and hikes are organised and scheduled on request. Please book
all longer trails and hikes at least fourteen days in advance. |
