Horse Trail Information

Here at Fynbos Trails, we specialise in the beautiful Western Cape Boland and its Winelands on horseback. We supply a number of trail options to suite various tastes and budgets, from luxury trails with all meals in quality accommodation to our 'budget' alternative based on a very good local bed and breakfast establishment which allows guests to select dinners to suite their tastes and pockets.

Climate:

Summer:  Very hot and dry with some cooler days  (November to March).

Winter:   Mild with perfect riding weather, wet in July (May to September).

Spring & Autumn:  The best time, mild with occasional showers.

Dress:

Jodhpurs or leather chaps, safe footwear (with a heel), hard hat (not compulsory) but recommended. (A limited number of old style riding hard hats are available for our guests use.)  Wide brimmed sun hat or cap, sunglasses, rain jackets, warm top for evenings. Insect repellent and sunscreen could come in handy. Bathing suit and beach towel if you wish to have a lunchtime swim.

Riding Ability:

All riding guests should be experienced riders and should be riding fit. (Riders should be confident at the rising trot and canter and able to cope with long hours in the saddle.) Novices are welcome on trails of up to a maximum of 2 hours long.  We are unfortunately not able to provide riding lessons.

Size:

All riding guests need to please state approximate weight and height when booking to allow us to allocate a suitable mount. Please note that there is a weight limit of 100kg on riders.

Please use the Quote and Booking Request Form to request a quote or make a booking.  When booking for a party of guests, please get each member of the party to supply details of their specific interests, dietary requirements, fitness levels etc. either through the use of the quote/booking form or via email. This will allow us to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience.

Participation in trails and hikes is at your own risk. Fynbos Trails, its proprietor, employees and agents will not be held responsible for and shall be exempt from all liability in respect of any loss, damage, theft, injury, accident or loss sustained by any person or their property.
